Grand Finale Chocolate Chunk Cookies - Keep Your Daydream (1)

Trish visited Chef Justin from Grand Finale Bakery in Grand Haven to record how to make the perfect chocolate chunk cookie!

If you are in Grand Haven, MI it’s worth your time to stop in for a treat at the Grand Finale Cafe and Bakery.

When we visited Pastry Chef Justin, he shared this awesome recipe so you can make Chocolate Chunk Cookies at home.

Wet Ingredients:

10 ounces of butter

225 grams of granulated sugar

285 grams of brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla

Dry Ingredients:

1 ¼ teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons of baking powder

500 grams of flour

550 grams of chocolate chunks

Preheat your oven 325 degrees convection (preferred) or 350 degrees regular oven temperature.

Cream your butter and sugar, with a flat paddle mixer or preferred mixer. Once creamed, incorporate one egg at a time, combine and then mix in vanilla.

In a separate bowl mix your dry ingredients and then slowly add to your wet ingredients.

Tip from Chef Justin: You can add your chocolate chunks in at the same time as dry ingredients in an effort not to over mix your batter.

Use a small ice cream scoop to portion cookie size and bake for 12 minutes.

Looking forward to making these cookies. Is there any change to the recipe if you live in a higher altitude? So enjoy Sunday evenings watching your videos. I have your cookbook, but haven’t be able to try any recipes yet. We had to cancel a camping trip because of the Dixie fire. Happy trails. Diane Schebetta.

We agave been in Alaska for the past month to help our daughter and son-in-law before their son was born. They wanted chocolate chip cookies frozen to eat after we leave. I needed one more recipe and this was perfect timing! Our grandson was born on September 1st💕

According to the King Author Flour web site (1) cup of flour equals 120 grams in weight. An inexpensive kitchen scale purchased from the grocery store helps with these conversions. Grams are more accurate than onces and pounds. Because flour can have air mixed into the cup measurement as well as flour, a weight measure meant is far move consistent.

Weigh your ingredients, don’t use measuring cups.

Exactly. I use a kitchen scale that measures in pounds/ounces, fluid ounces, grams, and milliliter. No guesswork.
