Directions

1. To make the caramelized onion, cook sliced onion in a skillet over medium heat with a littlebutter and oil. After 10 minutes, add a dash of balsamic vinegar, a ladle of vegetable stock, and a pinch of sugar if desired, and cook, stirring and scrapping the brown bits from time to time for 20-30minutes more, until onion get a rich brown color. Transfer caramelized onion in a bowl and set aside (you can keep it refrigerated in an airtight container for one week).

2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (180°C). Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray.

3. Place halved potatoes in a single layer onto one side of the prepared baking sheet. Add olive oil, garlic, and Italian seasoning; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Gently toss to combine. Transfer into the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and crisp, tossing occasionally.

4. In the meantime, prepare the spice mix by combining salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, Cayenne and chili pepper flakes in a small bowl or shallow plate. Season steaks by rubbing the spice mix on both sides.

5. When potatoes are ready, remove from oven and switch to broil mode. Place seasoned steaks onto the opposite side of the prepared baking sheet

6. Place back into the oven and broil until the steak is browned and charred at the edges, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. For thinner cuts of steak, simply broil on one side only.

7. When done, sprinkle potatoes with parmesan and fresh chopped parsley and servedirectly from the sheet pan, along with the caramelized onion. Enjoy!

Recipe note: You can pre-cook potatoes by boiling them for 3-4 minutes before baking.

Very tasty, and I enjoy that it was quick and clean up was easy. Will make again for family. Where can I find nutritional info?

This recipe was good, but doesn't say that your mouth will be on fire while eating it. Hubby and I like spice, but this was just too much.

Recipe sounds great. Just curious about how spicy the steak rub turns out?
